DAY 2 — "The Debt Collector": Forgiveness Withheld

Scripture: Matthew 18:28–30 (NLT)
"But when the man left the king, he went to a fellow servant who owed him a few thousand dollars. He grabbed him by the throat and demanded instant payment. His fellow servant fell down before him and begged for a little more time. ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay it,’ he pleaded. But his creditor wouldn’t wait. He had the man arrested and put in prison until the debt could be paid in full."

Passage Summary:
The forgiven servant confronts a peer who owes him far less. He refuses mercy and demands payment.

Devotional:
Unforgiven debt twists us. The servant—forgiven millions—becomes a bully over pennies. When we withhold forgiveness, we trade the king’s robe for a jailer’s uniform. Unforgiveness doesn’t punish others; it imprisons us. You’re free—don’t rebuild the walls Jesus tore down.

Pause + Reflect:
"Unforgiveness is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die." — Augustine

Think About:
Who do I need to release from my "prison"?

Pray:
Father, expose where I’ve withheld grace. Break my chains with Your mercy.

Dig Deeper:
Matthew 6:14–15 | James 2:13

💡 Live It Out:
Pray for someone you resent—even if it’s brief.
