DAY 9: Grace for the Relapse

Scripture: "Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." – Lamentations 3:22-23

The Raw Truth: Maybe you broke the fast yesterday. Maybe you snapped at your kids. Maybe you scrolled mindlessly for an hour. The enemy's accusation is swift: "You're a hypocrite. You failed. Give up." Here is the radical truth of the gospel: Your faithfulness is not the foundation of this relationship; His is. His mercies are new every morning, not "once you get your act together." This fast isn't a ladder you climb to reach God; it's a path you walk with Him, and sometimes you stumble. His response to your stumble isn't a frown; it's a fresh, unmerited dose of compassion, waiting for you at dawn.

Illustration: Learning to walk. A toddler takes a step, wobbles, and falls. A good parent doesn't yell, "Failure! You'll never walk!" They cheer for the step, scoop up the child, comfort them, and set them down to try again. Every fall is met with renewed encouragement, not condemnation. God is the perfect parent.

Challenge: Confess any specific "relapse" honestly to God. Don't dress it up. Then, immediately receive His spoken mercy. Say aloud: "Thank you that Your compassion for me is new right now. Your faithfulness, not mine, is my hope." Let go of the guilt and take the next step.
