DAY 3 – JAMES (SON OF ZEBEDEE): PASSION REFINED

DAY 3 – JAMES (SON OF ZEBEDEE): PASSION REFINED

Scripture: “Lord, should we call down fire from heaven?” – Luke 9:54 (NLT)

Devotional:

James had fire. The problem? It wasn’t refined yet.

He wanted judgment. Jesus offered mercy.

God won’t cancel your passion—He’ll consecrate it.

The same intensity that once wanted destruction later fueled devotion. Passion isn’t the enemy. Unsubmitted passion is.

Jesus shapes our zeal into love.

Takeaway: Let God refine your fire.

Think About:

• Where does my passion outrun my wisdom?

• Am I reacting or reflecting Jesus?

Pray: God, refine my fire so it reflects Your heart.

Dig Deeper:

Mark 10:35–40 (NLT)

Acts 12:1–2 (NLT)

James 1:20 (NLT)

💡 Live It Out — “Refine the Fire”

Pause before reacting. Choose mercy.

Group Discussion:

• What’s the difference between zeal and maturity?

• How does surrender refine passion?

Comment: if you’re surrendering your fire.
