DAY 1 – LOVE THAT TELLS THE TRUTH
DAY 1 – LOVE THAT TELLS THE TRUTH
Scripture: 1 John 4:7–8 (NLT)
Devotional:
Love is the loudest word in our culture—and the most redefined. We’ve turned love into agreement, affirmation, and approval. But Scripture doesn’t let feelings define love. God does.
God doesn’t just show love—He is love. That means love is holy, truthful, sacrificial, and purposeful. When love is separated from God’s nature, it stops transforming and starts affirming whatever we already desire. Love becomes a mirror instead of a guide.
Biblical love doesn’t ask, “What feels right to me?”
It asks, “What leads to life?”
Jesus never lowered the standard of truth to make people comfortable. He raised people up by loving them honestly. Love that avoids truth may feel kind, but it leaves people stuck. And love without truth is not compassion—it’s fear dressed up as kindness.
Takeaway:
Love is defined by God, not culture.
Think About:
• Who has shaped my understanding of love the most?
• Have I confused being nice with being faithful?
Pray:
God, teach me to love the way You love—truthfully and courageously.
