ICEBREAKER QUESTION OPTION:
What was your most memorable summer vacation?
The Good Life Pt. 3
SPEAKER: PASTOR Tiffany Varner
Scriptures—
James 1:17; Proverbs 11:24-25; John 12:24
Key Takeaways—
Generosity is an attribute of God, not just a behavior, so we should strive to become like Him in generosity
We are stewards, not owners, of our time, talents, and treasures
Holding onto resources tightly limits our growth and potential
Releasing our "seeds" (gifts, resources, dreams) to God allows them to multiply
Our calendars and bank statements reflect our true priorities
Every believer has unique gifts to contribute to the body of Christ
Giving should be done from a heart posture, not out of obligation
The church needs all members actively participating, not just the 20% who typically give and volunteer
Discussion Questions—
How does understanding God as the ultimate source of generosity change our perspective on our own serving and giving?
How can we shift from viewing ourselves as 'owners' to 'stewards' of the resources God has given us?
How might our lives change if we truly believed we are 'God's masterpiece created for good works'?
Are there areas of your life do you need to 'die to yourself' like a seed, in order to produce fruit?
In what ways can we cultivate a lifestyle of generosity that goes beyond just our finances?
Pastor Tiffany told us, "If you won't give out of your lack, you won't give out of your abundance." Do you agree or disagree? Why?
Practical application—
Each morning this week, ask God to help you see opportunities to be generous throughout your day. Keep a log of what you notice and do.
Review your spending for the past month. Identify one area where you could make a change to prioritize giving. Challenge yourself to give at a level that stretches you, even if it's a small amount.
Closing Prayer—
Heavenly Father,
Thank you that you are generous, that it’s part of who you are. Help us, your children, to become more like you in this area. Form generosity in our character, so we can grow to be more and more like Jesus, who gave himself for us, and in whose name we pray,
Amen.
