The Good Life Pt. 2

SPEAKER: PASTOR Wes Washington

Scriptures—

Romans 8:28; Genesis 18:1-2, 8-13; Genesis 22: 1-3, 9-12

Key Takeaways—

  • The good life is about releasing, not chasing

  • God has given believers everything they need through the Holy Spirit

  • Trusting God is easier when life is good, but crucial when life is hard

  • Understanding and forgiving others, especially parents, can break generational curses

  • Serving others reveals readiness to receive from God

  • True identity is found in God's promises, not past mistakes

  • Faith is reflected in our words and actions

  • Obedience, even in difficult circumstances, leads to breakthroughs

  • Laying down everything at God's altar is essential for experiencing the good life

Discussion Questions—

  1. What does it mean to you to have a 'God-sized hole' in your heart, and how have you tried to fill it?

  2. How has your personal history shaped your understanding of God's love and trustworthiness?

  3. In what ways have you experienced God turning seemingly negative ingredients in your life into something positive?

  4. How can understanding our parents' backgrounds help us break generational cycles and cultivate forgiveness?

  5. In what areas of your life do you need to grow in humility, identity, faith, and obedience to trust God more fully?

  6. What might God be asking you to 'sacrifice' or let go of in order to deepen your trust in Him?

  7. How can we maintain obedience and faith during the 'three-day journeys' of waiting for God's promises to manifest?

Practical application—

Prayerfully reflect and choose one specific area (e.g., fear, control, unforgiveness, or a habit) where you feel God is asking you to surrender more fully.

Write it down, pray over it daily, and invite a trusted friend or group member to check in with you about your progress and prayers.

Closing Prayer—

Heavenly Father,

We are grateful for the stories You are writing in each of our lives, even when the pages are filled with pain, questions, or waiting. Help us to see how You are working all things for good—even the parts that feel broken or unfinished.

Lord, we admit that there are areas where we struggle to trust You. Teach us to surrender what we hold tightly. Help us to lay our fears, pride, and expectations on the altar, knowing that You are trustworthy and kind.

Grow in us a deeper faith that serves others with joy, and that reflects Your love in both our words and our actions.

We ask for the courage to forgive, the humility to grow, and the strength to obey—even when it’s hard. Let our lives be a testimony to Your redeeming power and faithful promises.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
