Day 4: The Ongoing Infilling

Scripture: “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.”– Ephesians 5:18

Devotional: Being "filled with the Spirit" is not a one-time event for a spiritual elite. It's a continuous command for every believer. The Greek tense implies "be continually being filled." Think of it like breathing. You are indwelt by the Spirit at salvation—you have Him. But being filled is about being yielded to Him—He has you. It's a daily, moment-by-moment surrender of control. Just as a drunk is under the influence of alcohol, we are to be under the influence of the Holy Spirit—our thoughts, words, and actions spilling over with His presence.

Think About:

  1. What area of my life am I currently withholding from the Holy Spirit's control?

  2. What would it look like for me to be "under the influence" of the Spirit in my workplace, my home, or my social life today?

Pray: Lord, I don't just want a one-time experience; I want a lifestyle of being filled. I empty myself of my pride, my plans, and my control. Holy Spirit, come and fill every part of me. Influence my thoughts, my words, and my actions for Your glory today.
