Day 5: Power for a Purpose
Scripture: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” – Acts 1:8
Devotional: The Holy Spirit's power has a purpose, and it's not for your personal comfort. It's for mission. The same power that raised Christ from the dead and launched the early church into a hostile world lives in you. This power isn't meant to be stored away; it's meant to be unleashed as you bear witness to Jesus. A "powerless" Christian life is often a self-centered one, focused on personal holiness without a burning desire to see others saved. The Spirit's filling propels us out of our holy huddles and into the messy, broken world that Jesus died for.
Think About:
- When was the last time I had a conversation about my faith that required the Holy Spirit's courage or wisdom?
- Is my Christian life primarily about my comfort and improvement, or about joining God's mission to save the world?
Pray: Holy Spirit, I receive Your power right now. Forgive me for hoarding it for myself. Give me divine appointments and boldness to be a witness for Jesus. Use me to bring light into the darkness, starting right where I am.
