Day 2: The Scarlet Cord in the Window
Jesus Our Salvation
Scripture:
“When we come into the land, you must leave this scarlet rope hanging from the window through which you let us down… and all your family members—your father, mother, brothers, and all your relatives—must be here inside the house.” – Joshua 2:18 (NLT)
Devotional:
Rahab wasn’t the most likely candidate for salvation — but that’s exactly the point. Her house was on the wall, her past was checkered, and yet God saw her faith. That scarlet rope wasn’t just a sign of safety; it was a shadow of salvation. The red thread hanging from her window pointed to the blood of Jesus that would one day cover every believer.
Like Rahab, our salvation isn’t earned — it’s received. The scarlet rope didn’t make Rahab perfect; it marked her as protected. In the same way, the blood of Jesus covers us not because we’re worthy, but because He is merciful. When you feel disqualified, remember the scarlet cord: your story is not defined by your past but by His promise.
Think About:
What “walls” in my life has God’s grace broken through?
Do I live as if I’m still trying to earn salvation, or resting in the covering of Jesus?
Pray:
Jesus, thank You for Your blood that marks me as Yours. Help me live with confidence that I am covered, forgiven, and safe in You. Let my story, like Rahab’s, point others to the saving power of Your grace.
