Day 2: The War for Your Heart
Scripture: “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.” – Galatians 5:16-17
Devotional: There is a civil war raging inside every believer. Your flesh—your fallen, self-centered nature—is in a death match with the Holy Spirit. This isn't a polite disagreement; it's a violent conflict for control of your life. You can't "manage" the flesh. You can't reform it. Your only job is to "walk by the Spirit." This means moment-by-moment reliance, choosing His presence and direction over your own impulses. The fruit of the Spirit isn't a checklist; it's the natural outcome of a life won by Him.
Think About:
Where did I see the "flesh" win a small battle in my life yesterday (e.g., irritability, jealousy, pride, anxiety)?
What is one practical step I can take today to "walk by the Spirit" in that area?
Pray: Spirit of God, I feel the war inside me. I choose Your side. I surrender my will, my reactions, and my desires to You. Lead me today. I want to starve my flesh and feed my spirit by walking with You.
