DAY 7 – MATTHEW: GRACE REWRITES THE STORY

DAY 7 – MATTHEW: GRACE REWRITES THE STORY

Scripture: “Jesus said to him, ‘Follow me.’” – Matthew 9:9 (NLT)

Devotional:

Matthew was sitting at a tax collector’s booth—an occupation synonymous with betrayal.

And Jesus chose him.

Not cleaned up. Not corrected first. Chosen.

Grace doesn’t consult your past before calling your future.

Jesus didn’t see a corrupt collector—He saw a Gospel writer.

The table of compromise became the doorway to calling.

Some of us are waiting to be perfect before following. But Jesus calls you in process, not after it.

Takeaway: Your history doesn’t intimidate His purpose.

Think About:

• What label from your past still tries to define you?

• Do you believe God can use your whole story?

Pray: Jesus, thank You for calling me beyond my history. Rewrite what I thought was wasted.

Dig Deeper:

Matthew 9:9–13 (NLT)

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)

Romans 8:1 (NLT)

💡 Live It Out — “Own the New Name”

Speak identity over yourself that aligns with God’s Word.

Group Discussion:

• Why is it hard to forgive ourselves?

• How does grace change our confidence?

Comment: ✍️ if you’re living redeemed.
